Our Chip Basket

Word reached us last Saturday that Thomas M. Moore, of Ravenswood, Florida, died the day before. Mr. Moore had long been an invalid, and his death was not unexpected. He was a man of unexceptional character and had the esteem of all who knew him. The sympathies of all our people are extended to Mrs. Moore in her affliction. He was buried at Ravenswood.

OBITUARY

Died, at Ravenswood, Florida, Nov. 14th, of catarrhal consumption, Mr. T. B. Moore, formerly of Winterset, Iowa. Being threatened with lung disease he went to Florida two years ago, and its genial climate was doubless instrumental in prolonging his life. But disease had too firm a hold on him to be got rid of, even in that sunny land.

In the afternoon of Sabbath, calm, mild and delightful, a large company of sympathizing friends assembled to express their sorrow and respect for him whom they so highly respected and esteemed. And his mortal remains were laid to rest as the sun was retiring below the horizon, and his grave was bedecked with a profusion of flowers and buds of promise and of hope. Calmly and trustingly Mr. Moore trusted in Him who had redeemed him and who was precious to him. So death seemed to have no terrors for him. We cannot forget his pleasant countenance, and his quiet, gentle ways. His bereaved wife and other dear ones have the deep sympathy of their many many friends in Florida and Iowa.
