Wednesday, May 6, 1970NANCY SHAFFER DIES IN CRASH
Nancy Shaffer of Des Moines, a former resident of Peru and Winterset, was killed in an automobile accident in Des Moines April 27. She was 28 years of age.
Miss Shaffer was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Shaffer, formerly of this community. She worked as a registered nurse at Memorial hospital in Winterset at one time. Recently she had been on the staff of Northwest Hospital in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held last Thursday from the Ft. Des Moines Methodist church, with burial at New Virginia.
Mr. and Mrs. Leon Fitzgerald attended the services. Miss Shaffer was a niece of Mr. Fitzgerald. Also attending was her grandfather, John Fitzgerald of St. Charles. They were accompanied to the services by Mrs. Orville Fitzgerald and Mrs. Dwayne Chickering of Truro.
