Mrs. Lovina Kuntz, pioneer resident of Madison county, died at her home in Winterset, Thursday March 23, 1933, at the age of 85 years. She had been in poor health for some time and her condition was critical all last week.

Mrs. Kuntz had lived either in Douglas township, or in Winterset, since 1881, and she was well known and liked in this community. Orrville, in Wayne county, Ohio was her birthplace, and she was the youngest of a family of ten. Her early life was spent in the town where she was born, and when quite young she was confirmed in the Lutheran church.

In 1866 she was married to John W. Zook and they were the parents of a son and a daughter. The husband and daughter died many years ago. On June 29, 1876, she was married to Henry Kuntz at Nevada, Ohio. In 1881 they came to Winterset, and a few years later they moved to a farm west of Winterset where her son, Fred now resides.

In 1914 they moved to Winterset in the house which she has since resided. Mr. Kuntz died May 14, 1924.

The surviving members of the family are two sons, Charles H. and Fred V. Kuntz, her daughter, Mrs. Lizzie McIntyre, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. All of her family with the exception of one granddaughter, Mrs. Eunice Hann of North Salem, New Hampshire, live in or near Winterset.

Mrs. Kuntz united with the Methodist church soon after coming to Iowa, and was a charter member of the Woman's relief corps.

The Rev. A. P. Keast conducted her funeral services at the Methodist church in Winterset, Saturday afternoon, March 25th, at 2 o'clock and burial was in the Winterset cemetery. The Rev. A. R. Weed, pastor of the West Star church assisted with the service.
