Another Sudden Death

Michael Murphy, for many years a resident of Douglas township, died very unexpectedly some time Saturday night last, having been found dead in his bed Sunday morning. He lived about three miles northwest of Winterset, just south of Cedar Creek on the main road leading northwest. Mr. Murphy was a brother of Mrs. G. B. Dolson, who lives just a little to the south. He was unmarried, and lived alone. He was somewhat advanced in years, and had been ailing for some time, but so slightly that no one would have thought of a fatal result.

Mr. Murphy was a quiet, inoffensive, strictly upright man and estimable citizen.

The sudden death of Mr. M. Murphy was a shock to the neighborhood and much sympathy is felt for his sister, Mrs. Dolson. Mr. Murphy was highly respected in the community.

Michael Murphy, of Douglas township, was found dead in his bed last Sunday morning about 7 o’clock. Mr. Murphy was a bachelor and lived by himself, but took most of his meals at his sister’s, Mrs. Geo. Dolson, who lives but a few rods away. As he did not come to breakfast, Mrs. Dolson went to his house to learn the cause, and there found him dead. He evidently had not been dead long, for there was still warmth in the body, and from the position of the body and other indications it was evident that he passed away peacefully. Mr. Murphy was subject to heart trouble, and there is no doubt this was the cause of his sudden demise.

He owned a well improved farm of eighty acres and had for a good many years lived thereon alone. He was a man of quiet and retiring disposition, upright in every way and highly respected by his neighbors and all who knew him. He was about seventy years old.
