DELLA EARHART, Stuart

Della Earhart, 75, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007, at her home in Stuart.

Services were held Friday, Aug. 24, 2007 at First Congregational Church in Stuart with Pastor Matt Taylor and Pastor George Thurman officiating. Kathy Moon sang "Beyond the Sunset". The congregation sang "What a Day That Will be." Katie Taylor provided the piano accompaniment. Darlene Trowbridge and Kathy Wade sang "Safe in the Arms of Jesus," with Kathy Wade providing the piano accompaniment.

Bearers were Gary Earhart, Denny Earhart, George Trowbridge, Dirk Nord, Jerry Hoy and James Barnhouse. Honorary bearers were Paul DeRosear, Dale Harlan, Pat Doud, Joe Sherman, Dwight Hawley, Bob James, and Don Roberts.

The committal service and interment were in South Oak Grove Cemetery, Stuart.

Della Earhart was born Feb. 4, 1932 at rural Winterset to Lloyd and Belle Duff Dickey. Her childhood was spent in Winterset, Des Moines, and Stuart. She graduated from Stuart High School in 1949. In 1981, Della received her bachelor of arts degree from Grandvie College.

She married the love of her life, Cy Earhart, on Dec. 4, 1949. They began their life together farming south of Stuart, where they raised their family.

Della was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Stuart. She was involved wth the choir, Women's Fellowship, Bible school, and Sunday school. She was a homemaker above all, and also worked for the State of Iowa Department of Revenue and the West Central Mental Health Center.

Cy and Della moved into Stuart from the farm in 1990. They spent many winters at Bibleville, in Texas, where Della was active in a singing group and also tutored children in reading.

Some of Della's hobbies and joys were her church, her family, writing, music, all of her babies, and sewing.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Cyrus of Stuart; two sons, Mike and Sue Earhart of North Carolina and Mark and Biz Earhart of Stuart; a daughter, Michele and Mike Givan of Des Moines; a sister, Darlene and Jim Trowbridge of Des Moines; a brother Richard and Jan Dickey of Arizona, nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Ruppert Funeral Home of Stuart was in charge of arrangements.
