The following is the Obituary of Mr. Isaac Callison, father of V. L. Callison, published by the Abingdon Illinois, Enterprize in its issue November 5th.
Isaac Callison was born in Virginia, in 1806, and died at his residence in this city, Oct. 28th, being seventy-six years of age. He was married to his wife who survives him, fifty-two years ago, in Virginia, and moved to Vermillion county, Illinois, in 1833. He remained in that locality twenty years, and then moved to Fulton county where he lived until his removal to this city a few years ago.
Mr. Callison has long been an exemplary Christian, being united in early life with the M. E. church, and remaining in that connection until about 1850, when he united with the C. P. church, with which organization he was identified till called to join the great church above. He was one of the leading members of the Presbyterian society in this city, which by his death has lost one of its most earnest and persistent workers.
Mr. Callison was the father of ten children, seven of whom are now living. The bereaved family have the heartfelt sympathy of a large circle of friends here and elsewhere, in their great bereavement. Mr. Callison was a man whom it was a pleasure to know. Of a genial, affable disposition he always made fast friends of all whom he chanced to meet. His many sterling qualities of head and heart had endeared him to our people in no small degree. An honest man, "God's noblest work," has gone to his reward. May he rest in peace.
