Lucy L. Shepherd, daughter of Mose and Helen Shepherd was born in Boone County, Iowa Oct. 27, 1861; Died Nov. 10, 1916; aged 35 years and 14 days.

Her father was born in Indiana and came to Iowa in 1844, died June 8, 1903 at Pawnee City, Nebr. Her mother, Helen Miller, was born in Mich. in 1836 and died in Boone county, Iowa, 1868.

Lucy L. Shepherd was married to Wm. Cooper in Ottumwa, Ia., May 7, 1880. To this union eleven children, two dying in infancy; 9 with her husband survive her. The children are Verna Powell, Ida Belle Teel, Josephus, Mark, Edith, Frank, George, Mary of Madison Co., and Rose Thomson of Neb.

She was converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal church. A few days before her death she said, " I trust it all to the Saviour." She was a good kind mother, and her children will never forget her patience and sweet spirit, during her long days and nights of suffering.

The funeral was held at the Union Chapel Sunday afternoon Nov. 2 conducted by the Rev. M. M. Cable of the Methodist Church and the remains laid to rest in the cemetery at Union Chapel.
