A LANDMARK GONE

Another of our oldest citizens has been called away, Mr. A. Hornback. He was one of the oldest settlers in the county, coming here in 1853. He was born in Ohio in the year 1802 making him 79 years old, and, until within a few months past has worked steadily at his trade and never knew sickness. He was a man of wonderful energy and activity, always busy as a bee and never deviating from his fixed principles of honesty, promptness and thorough-going in every thing.

Mr. Hornback was a man highly respected by all who knew him. His utter reliability and faithfulness to his contacts made it a pleasure to do business with him, and his influence in the community as an honest man must be computed.

He was married in 1822 and has six children, most of whom live in this county.

A fruitful, useful and long life well spent shall be engraven in memory of A. Horsback, and his life will be taken for an example of many old and young.
