Mrs. Stephen Hughes, of a family living in the west part of town, died last week, leaving seven small children, the oldest of which is but fourteen years of age. Mr. Hughes is an ex-soldier with an empty sleeve which renders the bereaved family still more destitute. The apparent necessity of their separation caused them untold grief and sorrow until the little girl of thirteen years bravely declared herself able to take care of the house and keep the family together. May she succeed admirably is the wish of all.

Note: Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
