DEATH OF GEORGE S. WASSON

A number of our readers will be pained to learn of the death of Mr. George S. Wasson, who in the early part of 1878, was a resident of our town, being in the employ of Getchell & Merrill. Gentlemanly and intelligent, during his stay in Winterset he made many friends and won the confidence of his employers. In the latter part of 1878, he moved to San Antonio, Texas, where he occupied a position in the Pay Department of the U.S.A. Some three months since his health failing him he returned to his home in Warren county, when he died on consumption, Sept. 18th, 1880.

His sister who notified us of his death, says, that during his illness he often referred to Winterset and expressed a strong desire to revisit this city, and thought that his stay here was one of the most pleasant periods of his life.
