Peter Julius Jensen, the oldest of five children of Julius and Anna, nee Jochimsen, was born in Dexter, Iowa on February 20, 1887. He was baptized in the Lutheran church on April 3, 1887. He received his education in a school near Dexter. He was confirmed on April 5, 1903 by Pastor H. Markworth. Upon the death of his father he took over farming the parental property. He served in the Armed Forces during World War I. He then made his home in Dexter and was engaged in custom work in the community for many years. He also served in city maintenance in the city of Dexter.
Mr. Jensen was never married. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. He passed away after a four-week illness in the local Clinic Hospital on Saturday October 3, at the age of 77 years, 7 months and 12 days. He is survived by one brother, Dorious of Smithville, Ohio and one sister, Mrs. Bertha Herman of Fredrickburg, Ohio and nieces and nephews.
Services under the direction of the Evans Funeral Home were held at Zion Lutheran church on Monday, October 5 with the Rev. Norman Luecht in charge. Interment was in the Dexter cemetery.
