DEATH OF REV. JOHN COAKLEY

John Coakley, of Monroe township, died December 14, 1879, at the age of 64 years.

The funeral services were held at the Callison School House by Rev. J. Emanuel, December 25th. At the monthly meeting of the Methodist Protestant Church, held with the Big Grove Society, the following resolutions were adopted:

Resolved. That in the death of Brother John Coakley, we recognize the overruling hand of Providence.

Resolved. That we tender our heartfelt sympathy to his bereaved family, and that as a Church, we feel we have lost an able counselor and a worthy Minister of the Gospel, and while we deeply deplore his absence from our number, we feel our loss to be his gain.

Resolved. That a copy of these proceedings be tendered the bereaved family and sent to the Winterset Madisonian with the request for their publication.
