Thursday, June 11, 1874Dr. Hamilton, late of Patterson, recently went to St. Louis and while there took suddenly sick with spotted fever and died. His wife, who was at Patterson, was telegraphed to and she telegraphed for the body to be sent her. Not hearing further, Dr. Rawls went to St. Louis, secured his effects, raised the body and identified it. The authorities would not allow its removal at present.

Died at St. Louis, May 14th, Dr. S. J. Hamilton, of Patterson with cerebro (cerebra) spinal memeningitis. Age 24 years.
At a called meeting of the Madison County Medical Association, held June the 12th, the following resolutions were adopted:
Resolved, That in the death of Dr. Hamilton, this Association loses one of its most earnest and zealous members, society a good man, humanity a true friend.
Resolved, That hearty sympathy and condolence is here by tendered to the family of the deceased (deceased) in their bereavement and that a copy of these proceedings be transmitted to them.
Resolved, That these proceedings be published in the city papers.
