Mrs. Frank Payton, who for the past year or so has been suffering with consumption, died last Saturday. The deceased has had a long and serious struggle between life and death, but that fatal affliction consumed her mortality and her soul passed from this earth to a much better land. She leaves a devoted husband and two loving children to mourn her loss.

PAYTON--In Winterset, Iowa, October 25th, 1877, of chronic pneumonia, Mrs. Etta Payton, daughter of Rev. Jonathan Thomas, and wife of Mr. W. F. Payton.
Mrs. Payton was born in Brunersburg, Defiance county, Ohio, was converted in her youth, united with the M.E. church, lived an irreproachable life, and died in good hope of a home in heaven. Her residence here was brief, and for the most part in much bodily affliction; yet possessing the conversational powers and an excellent spirit, she attracted to herself many warm friends. The funeral sermon, founded on Rev. 21-4, was preached by the undersigned to a large and sympathizing congregation in the M.E. church on Sabbath, Oct. 28th.
Mrs. Payton leaves an aged father, husband and two small children; also a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn their great loss.
