Eliza Abrahams, Colorado

A funeral service was held Thursday, June 10, at Collins Funeral Home for Eliza Marie Abrahams, a for Madison county resident who died June 7 at Foothills Care Center in Longmont, Colorado. She was 70 years old.

Born in Lorimor on Feb. 21, 1912, she was the daughter of Harry and Susan Rhodes Sage.

On Aug. 12, 1931, she married Jim Abrahams in Bethany, Mo. Mr. Abrahams died in 1954.

A Madison county resident most of the life, she worked in the county auditor’s office from 1954-62 and belonged to the Winterset American Legion Auxiliary. She also worked as a medical aide in Prairie City for 13 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and infant brother; and a daughter, Phyllis Walker. Survivors include two daughters Wanda Hiemstra of Prairie City and Virginia Kennedy of Longmont; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Rev. Byron Ayers officiated at the funeral service. Burial was in Winterset Cemetery.
