BUCHANAN - At her residence near Patterson, February 12th, 1877, Mrs. Ellen Buchanan, aged 22 years, 5 months and 8 days.
One year ago, January 5th, she and her sister, Elsie, were constituted happy brides with one ceremony. Swiftly and joyously the thirteen months fled away. She and her husband found congenial companions in each other, and in their pleasant home a bright future opened up before them. But no home on earth is secure from the shafts of death, and this home was suddenly desolated by an arrow from his quiver.
The funeral was largely attended by sympathizing friends. The services were conducted by Rev. J. H. Potter in the Christian church of this city, which she has been a member since 1870. She left a young son which is as a sunbeam to cheer the heart of the sorrowing husband. Her bereaved friends are comforted in the hope of a joyous reunion in the city never invaded by sin or death.
