DEATH OF ELIZABETH FORD

Sister Elizabeth Ford, mother of I. T. and Fletcher Ford, was born in Clay county, Ky., A.D. 1800. Was married to Jared P. Ford, at the age of sixteen years. The fruit of this marriage was ten children, five sons and five daughters; five of whom have already passed over the river to the promised rest, the remaining five are on their way to meet those loved ones on the other shore.

Elizabeth and Jared P. Ford lived together as husband and wife for fifty-one years, when death claimed him for his prey, and he was called to join the loved ones where parting shall be no more.

Sister Ford lived to see forty-four grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren. She was converted at the early age of twelve years, joined the M. E. church, and was a consistent member to the day of her death. She was loved by all who knew her, and her christianity never was doubted by any one. In all her sufferings and bereavement she was never known to murmur or complain. She bore them patiently like a good soldier of Christ, ever trusting that precious promise, "As thy day is so shall My grave be," She died at the residence of her son, I. T. Ford, January 20th, 1877. She has fought a good fight, finished her course and kept the faith, and has now gone to receive her crown, "Servant of God, well done."

The funeral sermon was preached by the writer from Job 14:14, after which the body was conveyed to the cemetery at Winterset and there buried to await the voice of her Divine Master till he bid it rise.

Tho's. Feely.
