Sarah Jane Headrick was born in Carrollton, Ill., October 12, 1830. She married her first husband, Erasmus C. Bryan, March 25, 1852, who died August 1, 1869 at Indianola. She was united to her now bereaved husband, R. W. Williamson, January 17, 1871.

She, with her first husband, settled near Wesley Chapel—M. E. Church, Warren county, and has lived there, or within a few miles of there, ever since.

She came to Winterset October, 1888, and resided here till called to her heavenly home March 29, 1899.

Having no children of her own, she adopted Jennie Tuttle, a niece, when but a day old, and also took R. B. Allen when six years old, and raised both of these children.

She united with the M. E. church when but ten years old and has been an acceptable member ever since. She delighted, when able, to attend the services of the sanctuary, but often ill health prevented. In her home relations she exhibited beautiful qualities. As a neighbor she was ever ready to lend the helping hand. She was unusually bright mentally and seemingly strong physically the day before her death, but on the evening of that day—Tuesday, March 28, at 6:30, she took suddenly ill, and in a few hours passed away.

For the many kindnesses extended by the numerous friends and neighbors in this time of sickness and sorrow her bereaved husband desires to express his deep thankfulness.
