Maxine Parris-Marks, Winterset

Vivian Maxine Parris-Marks, 85, of Winterset, died December 30, 1999 of pneumonia at Winterset Care Center South in Winterset. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. January 8, 2000 at the First United Methodist Church in Indianola. Pastor John Moorloch will officiate the service and the body was donated to the University of Osteopathic Medicine in honor or Dr. Kenneth Carroll. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.

She was born March 1, 1914 in Payne, Ohio to Henry Curtis and Leona (Dix) Barnes. She was married to Robert M. Parris, a Methodist minister for thirty years and to Roland Marks a farmer, for eighteen years. She graduated from Ohio Wesleyan in JUne 1942 and also received a Library of Science degree at Northwestern University. She completed her music degree from Drake University in 1956. She was a retired teacher and lived in Winterset for 14 months coming from Indianola and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Indianola.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Roland Marks.

Surviving relatives include a son, Timothy Parris of Iowa City; twin daughters, Susan Schweiker of Winterset and Barbara Semler of Wellman and five grandchildren.
