Velma E. Frantum, 58, of Newton, Kan., died March 31, 2000 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center St. Francis, Wichita, Kan.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 4 at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. MyCherie Zimmerman officiating. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.

Velma Frantum was born May 8, 1941 to Floyd F. and Ruth G. (Young) Eivins of Winterset. She married Gerald S. Frantum on July 10, 1962 in Iowa. Velma was a homemaker. She attended the First Christian Church in Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

She is survived by three sons, Patrick Franklin Frantum and Steve Wayne Frantum, both of Newton, and Christopher Fay Frantum of Terrel, Texas; and four brothers, Everett Eivins of St. Joseph, Mo., Arnold Eivins of Ceresco, Neb., Marvin Eivins of Macksburg and Harvey Eivins of Winterset.
