THOMAS E. WILLIAMS

Thomas E. Williams, son of John and Anna Lambdin Williams, was born August 26th 1861 in the Sugar Creek community, near Lynville, Iowa. He quietly passed away in the early morning of October 9th, 1954 at his home near Earlham after outliving his parents and his twelve brothers and sisters. (Burial in Earlham Cemetery)

After the death of his mother and twin sister, Elmina, when he was 2 1-2 years old, he was tenderly cared for by his father and his older brothers and sisters.

In 1879 when he was 17 years old, the family moved to the farm where he has resided for over 75 years. On October 31st, 1888, he was married to Leona Hightower, who preceded him in death January 21st 1946. To this union were born a daughter, Elsie of Earlham, and a son, Dr. Kenneth F. of Des Moines.

Tom was a birthright member of Friends and for many years served as an Elder. He always stood for the better things in the community and was regarded by those who knew him best as a man of more than ordinary common sense and judgment. His rare sense of dry humor has helped dissolve many difficult situations. He retained his keen mental faculties to the last. His balancing influence will be missed in his church and community.

Besides his children he leaves to mourn his passing his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Kenneth E. Williams, several nieces and nephews and other relatives as well as many neighbors and friends.
