DIED

BARD--At the residence of Wm. Bard, seven miles northwest of Winterset, on the 19th day of July, 1876, Mrs. Elizabeth Bard, aged 84 years and 8 months.

Deceased was born in Shenandoah county, Virginia, Nov. 19, 1791. Married May 26, 1812. Moved to Ohio in 1817, came to Madison county in the Spring of 1863. Mother Bard had 14 children, 10 lived to raise families. Had 44 grand children, 42 great grand children and several great great grand children. She has been blind for several years, yet in this affliction she waited in great patience for the coming of her Master. Several weeks before her death she was asked by Rev. F. R. Morey, if she was ready to die. She replied, "I am sitting by the river, waiting--waiting--waiting." Toward the close of her life she prayed nearly half of her time. She was buried in the cemetery near the house by the side of her husband who recently passed to the other shore. The funeral sermon was delivered in the grove on the Bard farm by Rev. F. R. Morey, to a large congregation. Text, Rev. 14-13. Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from Henceforth. Yes said the spirit; that they may rest from their labours, and their works do follow them.

(Burial was made in the Stringtown cemetery)
