NATIVE OF PERU DIES AT FLINT, MICHIGAN

Mrs. Merl McCormick, who had visited here recently with her aunt, Mrs. George Black, died at the hospital in Flint, Michigan, Tuesday afternoon, June 8th at the age of 54 years. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Baker and was born in Peru, July 16, 1899.

When she was a child the Baker family moved to Winfield, Kansas, and when she was 16 years of age they moved to Flint, Michigan, which has since been her home.

Mrs. McCormick was a graduate of the Flint high school and also of the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. She was active in various organizations in Flint, and this spring was elected state president of P.E.O.

She had come here several weeks ago for a visit with her aunt, Mrs. Black, and after ten days became seriously ill and was taken to the Madison county Memorial hospital for treatment. Her husband, and her brother, Basil Baker of Flint came down by plane last week end and she was returned by a hospital plane to Flint on Sunday.

She is survived by her husband Mr. McCormick, one brother, Basil Baker and a nephew Allen Eldon Baker, all of Flint. Her parents have preceded her in death, her mother dying in 1938 and her father, September 25, 1953.

Funeral services for Mrs. McCormick will be held Thursday morning June 10th at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of the Flint Methodist church that was furnished by her parents in memory of a brother, Harold, who had died in 1922. Burial will be in Flint.
