Page. 2LAST RITES HELD FOR CENTENARIAN
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Richards Funeral home here for Mrs. Sarah F. Hall, who would have been 102 years old on Sept. 6 of this year.
Mrs. Hall died Aug. 20, at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Roy Kerr of Cromwell, where she had been living the past several years.
Most of her long life was spent in Madison county.
The daughter of Nelson and Matilda Bowersmith Finney she was born in Delaware county, Ohio on September 6, 1852. The Finneys moved from Ohio to Adams county in 1853 and came to Madison county in 1867. Mr. Finney was coal and wood dealer and his daughter Sarah, after her marriage to Matt Hall, they lived in Washington county. They later returned to Winterset and Mr. Hall was in the coal business. They built the house at the west edge of Winterset now occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Blair Weidman and lived there until his death.
Her husband Matt Hall preceded her in death.
For 20 years, Mrs. Hall was a Sunday school teacher at the First Baptist church in Winterset.
Surviving are the daughter, Mabel at Cromwell, a son Claude of Long Beach, Calif., and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Officiating at the services Sunday was the Rev. Walter Cecil of the First Baptist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
