DEATH OF MRS. SUMNER

Prominent Winterset Woman Dies At 78 Years Of Age

Mrs. W. C. Sumner died at her home in Winterset Friday, July 20. She was 78 years old. Death following a long period of failing health.

The deceased was born Lorain Harriet Melton at Ontario, Illinois, on April 13th, 1856. She was the daughter of George W. and Mary Ann Melton. On November 28th, 1878, she was married to W. C. Sumner. They moved to Winterset in May, 1883, where they have since made their home.

Mrs. Sumner was the last of a family of ten brothers and sisters. She is survived by her husband and his brother and sister.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 3 p. m. from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home. The Rev. F. W. Madsen was in charge. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
