“Our Chip Basket” column

John Garrison was struck by lightning last Friday afternoon and killed instantly. He was at work at the time loading hay in the field immediately north west of the depot, Ed White being the pitcher. The latter was prostrated by the shock and the team ran off. White says it seemed to him the whole world was on fire for an instant. Garrison was dead before help arrived. He was an industrious and highly respected young man and leaves a family.

Note: Burial in the Winterset Cemetery.
