Had Worked As Carpenter in Winterset for 40 Years
William Bentley, a Winterset carpenter for many years, died at the Memorial hospital Sunday Aug. 17, after an extended illness. He was 77 years of age.
Mr. Bentley had spent his life in Madison county, with the exception of a few years in Greene county and in Nebraska. He was born in Jefferson township, Aug. 30, 1874, a son of Caleb and Margaret Baker Bentley. He was married to Myrtle Parkins Nov. 27, 1901 at Winterset, They moved to a farm in Jefferson township where they engaged in farming for 10 years. They then moved into Winterset and he had followed the trade of carpenter here since that time.
He was a member of the Winterset Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife; three nieces and a nephew.
Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Anderson home for funerals, conducted by the Rev. Clement D. Loehr, pastor of the First Presbyterian church. Burial was made in the Jefferson township cemetery.
