DENNIS E. HANEY DIED WEDNESDAY

Stricken by Heart Attack While Working in Field Near Patterson

Dennis E. Haney a widely known Madison county resident through most of his life, died of a heart attack Wednesday, March 30, while working in a field at the John Ryan farm, near Patterson. He was 68 years of age.

Mr. Haney had lived in Madison county for 49 years, coming here from Hawthorne. He was born near Red Oak on April 3, 1886, a son of Edward and Cora (Chickering) Haney. He had engaged in farming during his active life, but had been retired in recent years.

Mr. Haney was married Feb. 16, 1910, to Atha Greenfield who preceded him in death. His second marriage occurred in 1941 to Lillian Potter who survives him.

He is survived also by four children, Paul E. Haney, Raymond L. Haney, Mrs. Elsie R. Penick and Howard D. Haney; three sisters, Mrs. Harriet Tompkins of Winterset, Mrs. Florence Haupt of Rowan and Mrs. May Thompkins of Ft. Madison; and four step-children, Mrs. Virgil Ray of Glendale, Calif., Dale Potter of St. Charles, Jack Potter of Burbank, Calif. and Mrs. Darrell Wildin of Patterson.

Funeral services were held from the Patterson Methodist church Sunday conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Eldon Haworth. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
