NORA CRAVEN

Nora E. Dailey, daughter of Isaac M. and Deborah Cook Dailey was born near North Branch, Kansas, October 15th, 1884, and departed this life on July 7th, 1956, aged 71 years, eight months and 22 days.

She came to Iowa with her parents at the age of six attending schools in the Bear Creek, Dexter and Stuart vicinities, graduating from Earlham High School in 1904.

She was married to Willis K. Craven on March 1, 1906. To this union three children were born, two of whom preceded her in death; Robert Paul, who died in infancy; Pauline Comly of New Providence, Iowa; and Clarence N. who died in 1940.

She was converted at an early age, and her dedication to God found expression in the ministry of the Gospel. For 35 years she served as pastor and co-pastor within the limits of Iowa and Kansas Yearly Meetings.

The past year had been one of failing health and for the past six weeks, she had made her home with her daughter near New Providence, where death came suddenly of a heart attack.

Her love of her Master was evident to all who knew her, and her Godly example urges us to greater endeavor.

She leaves to mourn her passing one daughter, Mrs. Harold Comly, the son-in-law, Harold Comly, a grandson, Larry Comly, all of New Providence, Iowa and one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Dorothy H. Craven of Wichita, Kansas.

Funeral services were held at the Chester Friends Meeting near New Providence at 10 o'clock on the morning of July 10 and at the Earlham Friends Meeting in the afternoon at 2 o'clock. Officiating was Orval Cox, Superintendent of Iowa Yearly Meeting, assisted by Edna Hutchins, Friends pastor at Stuart and L. Willard Reynolds, the local pastor. Burial was in the Earlham cemetery.
