FLORENCE E. CLARK DIES IN CALIFORNIA

Florence E. Clark, a former Winterset resident, died Friday April 22 in California, after a lingering illness. She was 65 years of age. (Born-1889).

Miss Clark was born in Winterset, a daughter of Hugh and Harriett McDonald Clark. She was a graduate of the Winterset high school and attended Des Moines and Drake universities and the State University of Iowa in Iowa City. Her early life was spent in teaching in the schools of Madison county at Dexter, at the State Training school for boys at Eldora and in the Des Moines schools.

In 1935 she went to California where she taught in private schools in Los Angeles. Her last employment was with Western Union.

She was baptized in the United Presbyterian church in Winterset when she was 7 years of age.

Near surviving relatives include a sister, Mrs. Pearl Bean of Yucalpa, Calif.; and a half sister, Mrs. Marie R. Gowin of Winterset.

Funeral services were held this Tuesday from Anderson's home for funerals in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. George D. Fisher, pastor of the Winterset Presbyterian church. Burial was made in the McDonald cemetery northwest of Winterset. (Chase-McDonald cemetery)
