FRED J. ALEXANDER DIES AT 79 YEARS

Life-Long Resident of Union Township Dies at Home of Daughter

Fred J. Alexander, a well known Union township farmer and a life-long resident of the county, died Saturday, April 30, at the home of his daughter, Miss Ruby Smith of near St. Charles. He was 79 years of age and had been ill about a month.

Mr. Alexander was born in Union township Nov. 20, 1875 and spent his entire life here. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Alexander. He was married in 1902 to Elsie McDonald and they spent their married life on a farm in Union township. Mrs. McDonald preceded her husband in death a few years ago.

He had spent 51 years on the same farm in Union township. He was an active member of the Jefferson U. B. church.

Surviving are his five children, Raymond Alexander of Winterset, Mrs. Lafie Diser of Liscombe, Mrs. Ruby Smith of St. Charles, Robert Alexander of Stuart and Mac Alexander on the same farm. He also leaves 19 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Etha Koehler of Van Meter, Mrs. Austin Woods of Winterset and Mrs. Ada Schoen of Oregon.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Jefferson U. B. church conducted by the pastor the Rev. A. Bererman. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
