The not unexpected death of G. B. Chase occurred in Cedar Rapids last week and the remains were brought here for burial last Saturday. Mr. Chase was an old resident of Madison county but during the past few years he has been living with his daughter, Mrs. Applegate in Cedar Rapids. He had been suffering for sometime with a cancer, and for the past month it has been known that the end was near. He was a man highly respected by all who knew him. He was an old soldier and a member of the G.A.R. The Pitzer Post met the remains at the depot and escorted them to the M.E. church where the services were held, then to the cemetery for interment.
