Martin McNamara, an old settler and highly respected citizen of Union township, died at his home early yesterday morning. The deceased was born in Ireland in 1829, and was 76 years old.
His residence in Union township extends over a period of 37 years. Those bereft by his death are his wife, three sons, James and John of this county, and P. M. of Des Moines, two daughters, Maggie and Mary, who still live on the home farm near Patterson.
The funeral services will be held tomorrow and burial made at St. Patrick’s cemetery.

Martin McNamara, of Union township, died at his home Wednesday morning and will be buried tomorrow. He was one of the leading farmers of that township and a man highly respected in the community.

Martin McNamara was born in County Clare, Ireland, in 1830, emigrated to America in 1850, went to Canada in 1852 and came to Des Moines in 1855.
He was married to Miss Mary Linnane, August 13th, 1856, moved to Lee township, Madison county in 1870 where he lived at the time of his death, which occurred at 4:30 a.m., Aug. 10th, 1905.
He leaves behind to mourn his loss a wife and five children, three sons and two daughters.
The funeral and interment was held at St. Patrick’s church, conducted by Fathers Feely and Moinchan, Friday, Aug. 11th.
