MRS. WHITE DIED TUESDAY EVENING

Mrs. S. R. White, a resident of Madison county since 1919, died Tuesday evening, March 29, at Madison county Memorial hospital in Winterset. She was 70 years of age.

Mrs. White was born in Montgomery county, Iowa, and was married there in August of 1902. She and her husband lived in Montgomery county until 1919, when they moved to a Madison county farm in the Ord community.

She is survived by her husband, six children, Robert White of Paradise, Calif., Myrlee Smith of Patterson, Mildred Letz of Earlham, Mable Kastler of Des Moines, and Lawrence and Merrill White of Winterset. Fifteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral arrangements were not completed as the Madisonian went to press.

SERVICES FRIDAY FOR MRS. WHITE

Long-Time Resident of County Died Mar. 29

Funeral services for Mrs. S. R. White of Winterset were held last Friday afternoon, April 1st, from the local Church of Christ.

Mrs. White died at Madison County Memorial hospital on March 29. She was 71 years of age.

The youngest daughter of Alvin and Hannah A. DeWitt, she was born in Pilot Grove township of Mongomery County, Iowa on Jan. 8, 1884.

Gertrude Mae DeWitt and Sidney R. White were united in marriage on August 20, 1902 at Red Oak, Iowa. The Whites lived near Red Oak until 1919, when they moved to a farm in the Ord community of Madison county.

They were the parents of four sons and three daughters, Robert A. White of Paradise, Calif., Myrlee L. Smith of Patterson, Lawrence J. White of Winterset, Mildred I. Letz of Earlham, Mable M. Kastler of Des Moines and Sidney Merrill White of Winterset.

Mrs. White was preceded in death by an infant son, two brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren.

In addition to her children, she is survived by her husband, 17 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Officiating at the services last Friday was the Rev. Warren Hile, pastor of the Winterset Church of Christ. The Anderson Home for Funerals was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Clark cemetery south of Winterset.
