MRS. LON SMITH DIES AT 72 YEARS

Mrs. Lon Smith of Monroe township died at a nursing home near Winterset this Monday, Oct. 10, after an illness of two years. She was 72 years of age.

She leaves her husband; and four sons, Rolland and Lester Smith of Tucson, Ariz., Ernie Smith of Durand, Ill., and Lyle Smith of Macksburg. She also leaves nine grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Fellowship church. Burial will be made in the Clark cemetery.

SERVICES THURSDAY FOR MRS. LON SMITH

Funeral services were held Thursday from the Fellowship church for Mrs. Lon E. Smith of Monroe township, whose death occurred here Monday, Oct. 10 at the age of 72 years. The Rev. Clement Rowe, pastor of the Macksburg Methodist church, conducted the services. Burial was made in the Clark cemetery.

Mrs. Smith was the former Jennie Mae Webster, daughter of Homer and Ruth Alexander Webster. She was born May 18, 1883, near Milo. On Jan. 8, 1903, she was married to Lon E. Smith. They were the parents of five sons, one dying in infancy.

She was a member of the Winterset Christian church, and a long-time member of the Women's Christian Temperance union.

She is survived by her husband; four sons, Lyle H. Smith of Lorimor, Ernest E. Smith of Durand, Ill., and Lester and Rollin Smith of Tucson, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a brother, Walter Webster of Seymour.
