Fern B. Konkle, 100 of Longmont, Colo., died Nov. 30, 2001 at her son's home in rural Longmont.

Fern Konkle was born March 9, 1901, in Jewel County, Kan., to Ellyson and Lida (Boulton) Green. She moved to Winterset in 1904. She received a degree in home economics from Iowa State College where she met her husband, Philip J. Konkle. They married in 1924. Fern was a homemaker until 1948 when her husband died; she then pursued a teaching certificate in the state of Ohio. She taught grade school in Mt. Healthy, Ohio, until her retirement in 1967. She was a member of Longs Peak Methodist Church in Longmont and was a past member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Mt. Healthy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and three brothers.

She is survived by two sons, Kenneth H. Konkle (wife Patricia) of Bedford, Mass. and Robert E. Konkle (wife Vivian) of Longmont, Colo; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Paul R. Young Funeral Home in Mt. Healthy, Ohio.
