Rhea Grace Irving, 75, died of cancer Oct. 7, 2002 at Winterset Care Center North.
A memorial service was held Friday, Oct. 11 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset with Pastor Bill Branson officiating. Burial of the cremains will take place at a later date.
Rhea Irving was born Feb. 4, 1927 to Merryl and Lois (Taylor) Melton of Jamaica, Iowa. A graduate of Adel High School, she had resided in Linden, Des Moines and since 1998, Winterset. Rhea was retired from Statesman Group Financial in Des Moines where she was a clerical worker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son and a brother.
She is survived by two daughters, Janet Karlovsky of Des Moines and Jill Junkin of Booneville; a son, James Kaufman of Afton, Okla.; three brothers, Louis Melton of Nevada, Iowa, Darrell Melton of Runnels and Kenneth Melton of Arizona; two sisters, Jean Smith of Adel and Joanne Croker of Iowa City; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
