Richard W. Howard, 77, of Des Moines died Aug. 8, 1998 of a lung ailment.
The body was cremated and memorial services were held at Hamilton's Funeral Home Chapel in Des Moines.
Richard Howard was born Oct. 11, 1920 on the family farm in Scott township, Madison county to Walter and Vada (Armstrong) Howard. He was a 1938 graduate of Peru High School. In 1942 he married Mary Isabelle Perry. Richard was a veteran of World War ll and served in the Air force in Italy. He was co-owner of a body shop, retired from Allstate Insurance and worked as a groundskeeper at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Linda Tigue of Des Moines; one son, Randall of Des Moines; one brother, Norman of Winterset; two sisters, Jeanne Mirock of Cocoa Beach, Fla., Frances Greenwood of Stuart, Fla.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
