Dorothy Francis Flatt, 81, died of heart failure June 3, 2002 at Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 8, at Saylorville Baptist Church. Burial was at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Dorothy Flatt was born in Utica, Minn. She had resided at Bishop Drumm Care Center since July 2001. Prior to moving to Bishop Drumm, she had lived in Sun City, Ariz., for 20 years and before that in the Des Moines area, including Winterset. Dorothy was a former member of the Saylorville Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Joseph Buren Flatt.

She is survived by two sons, Joseph B. Flatt of Carmel, Ind., and Kevin N. Flatt of Chesterfield, Mo.; two daughters, Christine D. Doorenbos of Ankeny and Sharon M. Kennedy of Phoenix, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens.
