Funeral Rites Were Held on Tuesday With Burial at Earlham
John A. Wright, a resident of Dallas and Madison counties practically all his life, died Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mabel Eyerly of near Winterset. He was 78 years of age.
Mr. Wright was born Feb. 4, 1862, on a farm near DeSoto in Dallas county, the son of George and Mary Anne Wright. For about a year he lived in Missouri, and the balance of his long life was spent in Madison and Dallas counties.
He was married to Harriett Elizabeth Barnett on April 2, 1884. They made their home on a farm which he purchased west of Winterset. They were the parents of two children, a son and a daughter.
Mrs. Wright died in 1923. Since then he had made his home with his son, Lloyd Wright, now of Ames, and with the daughter, Mrs. Eyerly.
Mrs. Wright died in 1923. After that he made his home with his son Lloyd Wright, for three years, then moved to Jefferson township where he lived for nine years. Since 1935 he had been living at the home of Mrs. Eyerly.
In addition to his son and daughter, he is survived by six grandchildren, Hugh Wright of Winterset, Kenneth, Wilma and Harold Eyerly of Earlham, and Iola and Aurola Eyerly of Winterset; one brother, George Wright; and a half brother, Charles Mark of Winterset.
Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home, in charge of the Rev. W. A. Samp, pastor of the Methodist church. Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery.

Had Farmed Many Years In Jackson Township. Funeral Tuesday.
John A. Wright, 78-year-old farmer of Madison county, died Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ray Eyerly, with whom he had been making his home. His entire life, except for a brief period in Missouri, was spent in Madison and Dallas counties.
John Armstrong was the son of George and Mary Anne Wright and was born Feb. 4, 1862 on a farm near De Soto in Dallas county. He received his education near De Soto, and was united in marriage with Harriet Elizabeth Barnett April 2, 1884. They made their home on a farm which he had purchased west of Winterset. To this union two children were born, Lloyd E. Wright of Ames and Mrs. Mabel M. Eyerly of Winterset.
He united with the Methodist church in De Soto when a young man.
In 1901 he moved with his family to a farm in Jackson township. His wife preceded him in death, Nov. 21, 1923, and he then made his home with his son where he lived for three years, then moved to Jefferson township where he lived nine years. Since Jan. 1, 1935, he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Eyerly.
Those surviving are his daughter, Mrs. Eyerly, a son, Lloyd, six grandchildren, Hugh Wright of Winterset; Kenneth, Wilma and Harold Eyerly of Earlham; Iola and Aurola Eyerly of Winterset; one brother, George Wright, and a half brother, Charles Mark of Winterset and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 in Ramsey-Richards funeral home, conducted by the Rev. W. A. Samp, pastor of the Methodist church. Burial was made in Earlham.
