WILLIAM L. RHOADS

William Lafayette Rhoads, son of Peter and Susan Rhoads, was born near Drakesville, Davis county, Iowa, Oct. 8, 1857 and died at the home of his son Ethol H. Rhoads, near Jolley, Iowa, March 21, 1920, at the age of 63 years, 5 months and 13 days.

At the age of about 17 years, he moved to Madison county, where he spent most of his life. About 6 years ago he was stricken with cancer. During all his suffering, he never murmured a word of complaint.

On Dec. 3, 1891, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Jane McLarnand. To this union was born one son, Ethol H. Rhoads. Besides his wife and son, he leaves to mourn his loss the daughter in law, Mrs. E. H. Rhoads; a brother, S. S. Rhoads of Winterset, who was at the bedside of the brother at the time of his death; two sisters: Mrs. Delilah Housely of Elkhorn, Neb.; and Mrs. Margaret Blackburn of Chillicothe, Mo.

Rev. E. J. Plummer, pastor of the M. E. church at Jolley, delivered a very impressive sermon from Samuel 18.1. The funeral was conducted from the home on March 23d. Interment at the Crown Hill cemetery near Jolley.
