Earl Culver, Stuart

Earl Dalby Culver, 84, of Stuart died May 30, 2002, at Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 3, at Ruppert Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart with the Rev. Charlotte Reif officiating. Burial was at Greenfield Cemetery.

Earl Culver was born May 26, 1918, to Clinton A. and Mary B. (Christ) Culver of rural Howe in Adair County. He attended country school there. In 1938, he married Opal Greenback. They farmed near Greenfield until 1945, when they moved to a farm near Winterset, where Earl also operated Earls’ Radio and TV. In 1954, the family moved to Des Moines, where Earl worked for the Iowa Power and Light Company as a trouble-shooter. On Aug. 14, 1970, he married Evelyn Nelson in Orange City, Texas. Later, they settled in Menlo where he continued to farm. In 1997, they moved to Stuart. He also owned and operated Casey Antique Country Mall.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son and an infant brother.

He is survived by six sons, Wendell Culver and Gary Culver (wife Marilyn), both of Des Moines, Larry Culver (wife Linda) of Menlo, Bruce Culver (wife Haroldine) of Ackworth, Gale Culver of West Des Moines and Dal Culver of Chicago; two daughters, Joyce Eilbert (husband Dennis) of Carlisle, and Linda Kline (husband Richard) of Des Moines; a stepson, Jim Nelson (wife Kathy) of Panora; three stepdaughters, Judy Davison (husband Wayne ) of Earlham, Shirley Cline (husband Dennis) of Stuart and Connie Charron (husband Mark) of Grimes; 33 grandchildren’ and eight great-grandchildren.
