Death of John Ross

John Ross died at the state hospital at Clarinda Tuesday morning July 30th. Funeral services will be held at the Tidrick funeral home this afternoon. Rev. Eugene Alexander of Macksburg will conduct the services. Mr. Ross was taken to the hospital at Clarinda a week ago. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Oren Beach of Des Moines and two sons, Frank Ross of Macksburg and Roy Ross of Oklahoma. Burial will be in the Winterset cemetery. Mr. Ross was 78 years of age at the time of his death.

John David Ross

John David Ross, son of Cunningham and Mary J. Ross was born in Ohio, September 10, 1849, and passed away July 30, 1929, after a short illness at the age of 79 years, 10 months and 20 days.

He came to Iowa in his early youth and spent most of his life in Madison county. On October 12, 1876, he was united in marriage to Emma J. Jones, who preceded him in death on January 21, 1927. To this union were born four children; Charles F. of Colorado; Frank of Macksburg; Mrs. O. R. Beach of Des Moines; and Roy G. of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He leaves also to mourn his passing, nine grandchildren, two brothers and one sister.

Services were held at Tidrick's funeral parlors, Thursday, August 1, conducted by the Rev. Eugene Alexander of Macksburg, with burial in the Winterset cemetery.

LAST RIGHTS HELD FOR JOHN D. ROSS

John D. Ross, long time resident of the county, died Tuesday. He would have been 80 years old this fall and had been in ill health some time.

When a boy, Mr. Ross came to the county with his family. He lived a number of years in Scott township and later went to Grand River township. In 1906 he moved to Winterset.

Mrs. Ross died two years ago and he is survived by his daughter, Mes. Oren Beach, Des Moines; Frank Ross, of Macksburg; and Roy Ross of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon (Thursday) at two o’clock at Tidrick’s funeral home conducted by the Rev. Eugene Alexander, of Macksburg, burial will be in the Winterset cemetery.
