SARAH JANE BUSCH

Sarah Jane Shaw, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anderson Shaw was born in Brown county, Ohio, Aug. 12, 1854. At the age of 18, she moved with her parents to the home where she lived all her married life, except nine years in the west part of the county.

She was married to Henry Busch August 28, 1879, and to this union were born four children: Michael A., and Charles H. of Winterset; Mrs. Cora J. Miller of Lorimor and William A., at home. All of her children were present during her last illness. Her husband preceded her to the great beyond on March 12, 1895; also her father and mother had previously died.

She united with the Christian Union church in Ohio, when but a girl and after coming to Iowa, united with the Pleasant View Methodist church, near the home, of which she remained a faithful member until her death.

She leaves to mourn her death the four children, six grandchildren, a brother, M. C. Shaw of Winterset, and one sister, Mrs. Mahala Kirkland, of Macksburg; also a host of friends.

The funeral services were conducted from the Pleasant View church, by Rev. Jackson Giddens, after which the remains were laid to rest in the nearby cemetery.

Death of Mrs. Sarah J. Bush

Mrs. Sarah J. Bush, one of the earlier residents of Webster township, a sister of M. C. Shaw of Winterset died at her home near the Pleasant View church on Monday evening at the age of 66. Death was due to an attack of flu-pneumonia, followed by a relapse.

Mrs. Bush came to Madison county from Ohio, with her parents in 1872. Mr. Bush died some twenty years ago. The mother reared her four small children and continued the management of her farms until her sons were grown to manhood. She was a lady held in the highest esteem by all who knew her.

Funeral services conducted by Rev. Jackson Giddens, were held yesterday and burial at the Pleasant View cemetery. The surviving children are three sons: Michael, Charles and William, and one daughter, Mrs. Clinton Miller of Lorimor.
