Mrs. Alexander was born in Grant county, Kentucky, in 1850. At the age of four years she moved with her parents to Illinois where she spent her early life. There, in 1868, she married Henson Alexander. With her husband she later moved to Missouri and thence to Iowa.

Mr. and Mrs. Alexander were the parents of eleven children, all of whom survive. They are: Mrs. Olle White of Cameron, Missouri; Mrs. Laura Posten of Winston, Missouri; Mrs. Eva Estes of Towner, Colorado; Mrs. Myrtle Harlow of Gillette, Wyoming; Mrs. Lena Allsup of Des Moines, Mrs. Lucy Lee of Perry and Noah, Paul, I. H. and C. L. Alexander, all of Winterset.

In addition, Mrs. Alexander is survived by 41 grand children and 40 great grandchildren.
