MRS. J. W. WARD DIES

Word has been received here of the death of Mrs. J. W. Ward, a one-time resident of Madison county.

Mrs. Ward was the former Permelia Ellen Tansy, born in Washington county, Sept. 12, 1861.

On March 31, 1877 she was married to Josiah Wilson Ward. They were the parents of ten children, all of whom survive.

Most of her married life was spent in Madison county, when in 1906 they moved to Hepler, Kansas and in 1917 to Manhattan, Kansas where Mrs. Ward died Wednesday, March 5, at the age of 79 years.

Mr. Ward preceded his wife in death Sept. 26, 1938.

Besides her ten children she is survived by 28 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. The children are: Alice M. Ward of Truro, Mrs. O. J. Severid of Huxley, Don C. Ward of Winterset, Mrs. Florence Drury and Mrs. Joe Coley of Pittsburg, Kansas; Ben of Washington; Mrs. H. S. Heggen and Howard Ward of Alleman; Mrs. Mildred Knott of Des Moines, and Glenn of Yuma, Arizona.

Funeral services were held in Washington Saturday at the Jones home for funerals.

Burial was made in the Washington cemetery.
