MRS. J. W. JESSE DIES

Mrs. J. W. Jesse, a former Madison county resident, died at her home of Carlinville, Ill., Jan. 28 after years of ill health. She would have been 75 years of age Feb. 14th.

As Mary C. Hughes she grew up in the Broadhorn neighborhood south of St. Charles, attended high school at the latter place and later taught in the rural schools. She was married to John W. Jesse of Barney, May 11, 1899, at her mother's home in New Virginia. The couple made their first home near Barney, later lived in New Virginia and also Kansas, before they moved to Illinois where they have resided for a number of years.

Mrs. Jesse is survived by her husband and two sons, Cecil P. Jesse of Colorado; J. Sanford Jesse of Carlinville, Ill., and a daughter, Mrs. Orin Hal of Palmyra, Ill. She also leaves seven grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. A nephew, Raymond Hurst, lives near Winterset.

Her funeral services were held at Carlinville, Jan. 30th and burial was made at Chatham, Ill.
