“The Funerals”

On Saturday last our much respected citizen, Elias Stafford, departed this life. On Sunday his funeral services were held in the Methodist church and attended by the largest number of persons we have ever seen at a funeral in this city. The services were conducted by Rev. J. F. Goolman and Father Storrs. Mr. Storrs made an eloquent and affecting prayer and Mr. Goolman delivered an able and instructive address.

Mr. Stafford was in his 66th year and has been a citizen of this county for 19 years. By those who knew him best he will be most kindly remembered. He had a large heart, ever sympathizing with those in need, and ever ready to extend aid and assistance to the deserving. In every public enterprise he was always among the foremost, ready and willing to do his share. In short, was the kind of man that is of great value to the community, and whose death many will mourn.
