Lingering Illness Ends in Death of Life-Long Resident Here
Willis Martin, a life-long resident of Madison county, died at Madison county Memorial hospital in Winterset last Friday, Jan. 8 after a lingering illness. He had been a patient at the hospital for seven months.
Mr. Martin was 62 years of age. He was born in this county Aug. 9, 1891, a son of Lincoln and Maggie Martin. He attended the Winterset schools and during the first World War he served in the U. S. Army with overseas service in Germany.
For more than 30 years he served as an assistant to F. L. Drennan Lumber yard in Winterset. When Mr. Drennan sold the yard he moved to a farm north of Winterset, where he had since lived.
Mr. Martin was married in 1918 to the former Beulah Casper, who survives him. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Homer Tilton of Winterset.
Funeral services were held Sunday from the Anderson home for funerals in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Warren Hile, pastor of the Winterset Church of Christ. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
