Charles W. McDaniel a carpenter in the St. Charles community through most of his life died at a Winterset nursing home, Wednesday, April 21. He was 69 years of age.
Mr. McDaniel was born May 27, 1881 near St. Charles. He was a member of the Methodist church there.
Surviving are a brother, Floyd McDaniel of Edmonds, S. Dak; four sisters, Mary McDaniel and Mrs. Rose Young of St. Charles and Mrs. Virginia Evans and Mrs. A. McDonald of Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held this Saturday at 2 p.m. from the St. Charles Methodist church in charge of the pastor, the Rev. Eldon Hayworth. Burial will be in the St. Charles cemetery (Is in Sayre cemetery.)

Charles W. McDaniel, whose death occurred April 21 at Winterset, was a life-long resident of the Elm Grove and St. Charles communities.
He was born in Ohio township May 27, 1884, a son of Wesley F. and Lucy Allen McDaniel. At an early age he moved with his parents to a farm near Elm Grove church. His early life was spent there. As a young man he taught in the rural schools of Madison county, from 1904 to 1907.
After the death of his father in 1911, he carried on the work and management of the farm. In 1919 the family moved to a smaller farm near St. Charles. After that, he engaged in the carpenter's trade. Since 1942 he had lived in St. Charles.
He had been a member of the Methodist church since early life.
Mr. McDaniel had been in failing health for four years and on April 2, entered the Madison county Memorial hospital at Winterset for observation and treatment. A week later he was transferred to the Horton Nursing Home here.
